The 2024-2025 fiscal year was another strong one for the Sparwood Food Bank with an increase (income-expenses) of $46,397.
Through the year, $20,000 was transferred to the Food Share account to support wages and Receiver General payments, and the main expenses of the year were $4600 for Christmas gift cards and $10,500 for the second half of the roof repairs.
Major donations for the year included the Rossy Foundation - $10,675.00, CBC Food Bank Day - $11,715, and the BC Liquor Distribution Branch - $4985.
We also received the remaining funds from our CBT grant to purchase the building, which was $18,000, grant funds for Standards of Excellence - $8,625, and the Agency Relief Fund through Food Banks BC for $4,000.
Food Share wages are around $2,700 per month, with a portion of this supplemented by Food Mesh.
We hold a healthy balance in our accounts and investments and we are secure in the event of unforeseen circumstances in the community or with our building.
