When is the Sparwood Food Bank open?

We are open every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. During these hours, you can:

Pick up a monthly food hamper.

Pick up an application for assistance.

Drop off food or monetary donations.

How do I apply for food assistance?

Applications must be picked up in person at the food bank during our regular operating hours (Tuesday/Thursday, 11 AM – 12 PM). Our team will guide you through the process and help determine which programs you qualify for.

 

Do I need to live in Sparwood to receive help?
Yes. To receive a hamper from the Sparwood Food Bank, you must be a local resident. Please bring a utility bill or a piece of mail addressed to you that shows your current Sparwood address as proof of residency.

What is included in a food hamper?

We provide a balanced mix of items to help support your household. While stock varies, a typical hamper includes:

Non-perishables: Canned goods, pasta, tuna, cereal.

Perishables: Fresh items such as milk, cheese, and meat.

How much food will I receive?

The amount of food provided is based on your household size. We ensure that hampers are scaled appropriately to meet the needs of individuals and larger families alike.

Can you accommodate special dietary needs?Yes. We do our best to cater to specific dietary requirements or medical restrictions. Please let our volunteers know about your specific needs during the application process.

What is the Food Share program?

Beyond our monthly hampers, we offer a Food Share program. Qualification for this program is determined during your initial application. This program helps provide additional food security to those who meet the specific eligibility criteria.

Do you accept money donations?

Yes we accept e-transfers to sparwoodfoodbank@gmail.com (be sure to include your mailing address in the notes section), donations in person or mail to PO Box 682, Sparwood, BC V0B 2G0. Charitable tax receipts are given for donations over $20.

Where can I make a complaint?

If you are having an ongoing issue that can't be fixed directly with the team you can make a complaint directly with Food Banks Canada - all information can be found here.
